Back on the South Downs Way with some newer style signposts between Buriton and Harting Down.
Autumn Trees in the Rain: Queen Elizabeth Park
Peaceful and contemplative walk up the steep hill through Queen Elizabeth Country Park. The final hill of Day 3 for Jill’s South Downs Way challenge with DDH.
Sheep grazing in Queen Elizabeth Country Park
The ascent down from Butser Hill through Queen Elizabeth Country Park is steep and slippery in the rain. The sheep don’t seem that bothered though!
A foggy day on Butser Hill
View from the highest peak of the South Downs Butser Hill. Jill’s diff-abled walk to raise money for Charity happens to be on a day without a view!
22 miles completed of my walking challenge
So happy to place my cap on top of the 22 miles marker for my walking challenge. This was the original start of the South Downs Way before it was extended to Winchester.
Rainy path on the ridge of the south downs
Day four of Jill’s South Downs challenge is a walk amongst trees and hedgerows in the rain – on the climb towards Butser Hill
Wetherdown Lodge: HMS Mercury
A welcome stay at Wetherdown Lodge up above Meon after 6.5 miles walking mainly uphill! Used to be part of HMS Mercury – communications training centre for the Navy.
View of Chalk Hills on South Downs climb
As twilight approaches on a steep climb up from East Meon, there’s a beautiful view over the chalk hills of the South Downs.
Meon Springs: welcome tea stop for DDH walker
Meon Springs proves a very welcome stop on my SDW charity walk. My DDH hips like the rest whilst the yorkshire lass enjoys a cup of tea.
View from Old Winchester Hill
From the top of Old Winchester Hill looking down the valley. About half way through my walk from Exton on the South Downs Way to raise money for Steps Charity.
