I was lucky enough to be walking alongside people doing the Beachy Head Marathon. After about 24 miles they were tackling the Seven Sisters Hills in the wind and rain –

I climbed up from Exceat for my first view of the Seven Sisters – the most famous part of the South Downs Way and a big challenge with hip dysplasia!

After climbing the many steps through the forest at West Dean I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the estuary at Exceat

As I approached Alfriston the fog and rain cleared and I got my first view of this pretty village across sheep fields
Fog on Firle Beacon
I’d heard that the climb up Firle Beacon would give me spectacular views! In this case the fog descended and I was fighting a side wind and heavy rain!

As I climbed up towards Firle Beacon the view out to Newhaven was marked by the threat of dark clouds
